cliché literature claims it's supposed to be about the journey, and not the destination. yet, we're almost always homeward bound at the end of a journey. i hope in this case life itself is the bigger journey and that this particular adventure turns out to be a destination revisited. photos and memories can do it on one level - but to engage all the senses, spirits and emotions down below the canyon - that's an entirely different level. looking forward to next time! - ajws

Havasupai - "people of the blue-green waters"

according to the Havasu 'Baaja, life began here! ...and if life had ended here too, i couldn't have been more content with the scenery. limestone deposits from above are the source of the water's blue-green hues; but regardless, i let it remain a wonder. i'd have to agree with Daren's sentiment, 'how could one possibly justify swimming in a chlorinated pool after diving in these waters?'

west of the Grand Canyons National Park, on Havasupai Tribal Lands, Amber (trip coordinator-extraordinaire, bless her heart), Keith, Serranna, Shannon, Martha, Daren, Sean, Rochelle, Isabela and i made our way down the Arizona canyons to paradise for a few days... beyond the 400+ resident village of Supai lies a series of waterfalls and a clump of campsites, about 10 miles northbound from the Hualapai Hilltop (5,200 to 3,000 foot elevation drop, from rim to floor). the next four days are an array of selected photos from Isabela and i. i use the term 'selected' to signify that yes, indeed i've narrowed down the batch of photos to these 160 or so. perhaps the inability to reduce 400+ plus photos to a manageable handful to share infers that there really is no legitimate photo-based conveyance of the experience. ...so here's to a futile attempt! Enjoy!
